Children’s songs and lullabies are only at first glance an unusual choice for a legend of jazz. However, Dave Brubeck, who would celebrate his 100th birthday on December 6, 2020, interpreted precisely this repertoire in 2011, at the age of 91, and did so with unusual clarity and beauty

Of course, Brubeck is best known for his rhythmically intricate worldwide success “Take 5”, but he was also a master of quieter tones, as these fifteen previously unreleased gems prove, which he recorded for his grandchildren

The pianist, who has won countless awards, transfers the seemingly simple songs through his playing into little marvels that can enchant the sworn Brubeck and jazz fan as much as an unprepared listener – with or without listening children!
