Legendary trumpeter Miles Davis was still at the very beginning of his solo career when he made the three recording sessions that make up his slim Blue Note catalog between 1952 and 1954. When Blue Note made the switch from the 10″ LP to the 12″ LP in late 1955, “Volume 1″ was the first album in the new 1500 series. Since the new format virtually doubled the running time, the six tracks on the original 10” LP were joined by another six recordings from the Blue Note trove. Musically, Davis already showed all the characteristics of his early style here, from glistening bebop to beautiful ballads. Blue Note Classic Vinyl Edition: Mono, fully analog mastered by Kevin Gray from the original tapes, Optimal pressing (180 g), padded inner sleeve. |
