Vince Guaraldi’s music for Charlie Brown, essential for the holidays, is in perfect hands with Guaraldi’s successor, the illustrious Jazz pianist and composer David Benoit. For three decades, the Grammy-nominated pianist/composer/arranger David Benoit has reigned supreme as one of the founding fathers of contemporary jazz. In 2017 he released The Steinway Sessions, his debut on the Steinway & Sons label. It includes some of Benoit’s most well-known tunes as well as the world premiere recording of his ‘Etudes for the Contemporary Pianist.’ In 2010, Benoit received a lifetime achievement award from the American Smooth Jazz Awards. He has worked with an impressive potpourri of musicians, and his film scores include The Stars Fell on Henrietta, and The Christmas Tree. David Benoit David Bryan Benoit is an American jazz pianist, composer and producer, based in Los Angeles, California, United States. Benoit has charted over 25 albums since 1980, and has been nominated for three Grammy Awards. He is also music director for the Asia America Symphony Orchestra and the Asia America Youth Orchestra. Vince Guaraldi Vincent Anthony Guaraldi born Vincent Anthony Dellaglio, was an American jazz pianist noted for his innovative compositions and arrangements and for composing music for animated television adaptations of the Peanuts comic strip including their signature melody, “Linus and Lucy” and the holiday standard, “Christmas Time Is Here”. He is also known for his performances on piano as a member of Cal Tjader’s 1950s ensembles and for his own solo career. His 1962 composition “Cast Your Fate to the Wind” became a radio hit and won a Grammy Award in 1963 for Best Original Jazz Composition. |
