Duo Artdeco Wien (Ensemble)

The Duo Artdeco Vienna presents violin sonatas by Ropartz, Schoeck and Poulenc for its third recording for the Austrian Gramophone label. Until today, the transition from the Romantic era to what is now called modernism has not lost any of its fascination. These three sonatas could not be more different in their stylistic expression of that transition, and with the two musicians of Duo Artdeco Vienna, particularly the lesser known works by Ropartz and Schoeck have found passionate ambassadors. Setareh Najfar-Nahvi began her violin studies at the Tehran Conservatory and was a member of the Tehran Radio Orchestra and the Tehran Symphony Orchestra from 1978 to 1983. From 1984 she continued her concert studies at the Vienna University of Music with Prof. Michael Schnitzler. From 1987 to 1989, she received a scholarship from the Austrian Ministry of Culture. Solo and chamber music activities have taken her to several European countries, including Germany, Denmark, Belgium, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland and France. Currently Setareh Najfar-Nahvi devotes her time to the performance of chamber music, focusing on rarely played literature for violin and piano together with pianist Theresia Schumacher. Theresia Schumacher received her first piano lessons at the age of four from her father. She continued her private lessons with Inge Rosar. Her teachers at the Hochschule für Musik in Saarbrücken were Prof. Walter Blankenheim and Prof. Bernd Glemser. In 1993 she completed her studies and taught at the Kreismusikschule Obernburg / Main. From 1995 to 2009 she worked as a piano teacher, chamber music partner and music therapist in Linz / Donau, Düs-seldorf / Rhein, Basel (Switzerland) and finally in Vienna. Since 2010 she has been working with the violinist Setareh Najfar-Nahvi in the “Duo Artdeco Wien”.
