Complete Symphonies Vol. 1

Luigi Boccherini has only in recent years been rediscovered with all his facets and versatility as one of the most important composers of the 18th century. with its numerous releases, cpo has perhaps played no small part in this. When we release our symphony edition this month, it will be the first time that Boccherini’s extant symphonic output is available in its entirety on CD On this first CD we have the Sinfonia concertante op. 7 coupled with the symphonies G 523 (with solo guitar!) and G 490 Enthusiastic reviews and letters have also confirmed that we have hit the bull’s eye with our choice of interpreters: the Deutsche Kammerakademie under its director Johannes Goritzki. A stroke of luck in every respect!

Complete Symphonies Vol. 2

On the second CD we publish the Symphonies op. 12 No. 1-3

Complete Symphonies Vol. 3

The symphonies op. 12 No. 4-6 were composed in 1770 for the Infante Don Luis in Araniuez. No. 4 is certainly Boccherini’s most famous symphony with the subtitle “La casa del diavolo”

Complete Symphonies Vol. 4

During Boccherini’s happy time in Aranjuez (1770-76), the six symphonies op. 21 were written as a second orchestral cycle, of which the first five are gathered here. The orchestration with strings, 2 horns and 2 oboes is the standard instrumentation known to Viennese composers at the time. For the first time in this genre, Boccherini uniformly committed himself to the three-movement form

Complete Symphonies Vol. 5

In addition to the sixth symphony from op. 21, our Vol. 5 contains the first three symphonies of op. 35. This is the last of the three work cycles of six symphonies each. The composition of op. 35 falls into that hardly explored period of his life after the “Stabat Mater” in the remote Arenas. In these magnificent symphonies, Boccherini comes very close to his beloved Haydn

Complete Symphonies Vol. 6

After a long break due to production reasons, we are now continuing with our Boccherini edition. After Vol. 4 and 5 we now publish Vol. 6 with the symphonies op. 35 No. 4-6 and op. 32 No. 1

Complete Symphonies Vol. 7 The seventh volume of our Boccherini cycle contains the continuation of the symphonies op. 37 (no. 3 and 4) and the symphony op. 41, all masterpieces of the mature Boccherini

Complete Symphonies Vol. 8 In Vol. 8 we have the two late symphonies op. 42 and 45 coupled with the very early D. major symphony G 500, whose authorship, however, is not clear. These two great symphonies were written during Boccherini’s time as a musician for the King of Prussia, more precisely in 1789 and 1792. As is often the case with Boccherini, the most virtuosic solo passages are integrated into the symphonic sequence, so that the soloists of the Deutsche Kammerakademie and their tutti colleagues can once again set off a veritable musical fireworks display. The conductor is, of course, Johannes Goritzki.
