Australian soprano Elena Xanthoudakis joins forces with Jason Xanthoudakis and Clemens Leske to perform some lost gems of the Romantic chamber music and leider repertoire – featuring works by composers including Lachner, Späth, Proch, Lindtpaintner and Kalliwoda. Australian soprano Elena Xanthoudakis is forging her career in Europe to many accolades. She has been described as “intoxicating with her cut-diamond clarity of tone, elegant legato, even crescendos and aching trills.” (Herald Sun) Accompanied by clarinetist Jason Xanthoudakis and pianist Clemens Leske, brilliant musicians in their own right, this new album from Signum features German romantic pieces for soprano, clarinet, and piano. Especially intriguing amongst these titles, are three world premier recordings: Die gefangene Nachtigall (The Captive Nightingale), Er, der Herrlichste von allen (He, the Noblest of All), and Der Hirt und das Meerweib (The Shepherd and the Mermaid). |
