The church year with Johann Sebastian Bach: On the occasion of the 800th anniversary of the Thomanerchor Leipzig, Rondeau Production is releasing a ten-part CD series documenting selected cantatas for the church year The extensive CD series begins with Bach cantatas for the Reformation and Michaelmas. In the current recording, Thomaskantor Georg Christoph Biller complements the Michaelmas cantatas Es erhob sich ein Streit BWV 19 and Nun ist das Heil und die Kraft BWV 50 with the hymn Dicimus grates tibi. Biller precedes the Reformation cantatas Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott BWV 80 and Gott der Herr ist Sonn und Schild BWV 79 with the chorale Es wolle Gott uns gnädig sein in Johann Walter’s setting.
