Once described by conductor Hans von Bülow as “opera in church garb”, Orfeo is releasing this recording of Verdi’s “Messa da Requiem” from the Stiftskirche Herzogenburg in 1980 to mark Júlia Várady’s 80th birthday. She is joined by the ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra Vienna and the ORF Choir, Alexandrina Milcheva, Alberto Cupido and Nicola Ghiuselev, conducted by Leif Segerstam. |
