Kian Soltani releases on Deutsche Grammophon the Cello Concerto in B Minor op. 104 by Antonin Dvorák, one of the most famous works of this genre in music history and probably the composer’s most famous work. Together with the world-class ensemble of the Staatskapelle Berlin and under the direction of Daniel Barenboim, who has protected and promoted Kian Soltani since his early soloist days in the West Eastern Divan Orchestra, this exceptional cellist has taken on this outstanding work and has now recorded it for Deutsche Grammophon. The album will be completed with chamber music works by Antonin Dvorák, which will sound in a completely new guise: Kian Soltani himself has newly arranged some of the well-known pieces (including “Leave me alone” and “When the old mother spoke”) for cello and cello ensemble. Kian Soltani again captivates with its unique warm sound and precise dexterity, which brings a feeling of sublimity. In addition to his virtuosity, Kian thus lends the works of Dvorák a charisma all their own. |
