25 years after her debut recording for Decca Classics the celebrated soprano Angela Gheorghiu releases her new solo album Plaisir d’amour. The album contains famous, but also rarely recorded songs from over four centuries of classical music.

With works from over eight different countries, Angela Gheorghiu takes the listener on a journey into the world of romanticism and love stories with all their ups and downs. Accompanied by pianist Alexandra Dariescu, the album begins with two Romanian songs by Stephanescu: Cântecul fluierasului and Mandruilita de la munte. The journey then leads through two songs by the Russian composer Sergei Rachmaninov, the Melodia Sentimental by the Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos to Fernando Obrador’s fiery Andalusian flamenco song El Vito and combines them with classics such as Faurés Après un Rêve, Tostis Ideale, Strauss’ Morgen and the Tristesse by Chopin.
