With a cutting-edge all-star band, the equally passionate and soulful tenor saxophonist Stanley Turrentine presented himself in 1964 on his Blue Note album “Mr. Natural”. Together with trumpeter Lee Morgan, pianist McCoy Tyner, bassist Bob Cranshaw, drummer Elvin Jones and congalero Ray Barretto, he offers here ravishing soul jazz with a clear Latin touch and – as always with Turrentine – a rich portion of blues. Blue Note Tone Poet Edition: stereo, produced by Joe Harley, mastered entirely in analog by Kevin Gray from the original tapes, RTI pressing (180g), sturdy tip-on gatefold, padded inner sleeve. |
