Between 1955 and 1970, tenor saxophonist Hank Mobley was an absolute fixed star at Blue Note as a solo artist and sideman of others. The album “A Caddy For Daddy”, recorded in 1965 with a first-class sextet, was already his 19th Blue Note recording under his own name and is one of his best. At Allmusic, the album received four and a half stars out of a possible five. Blue Note Tone Poet Edition: stereo, produced by Joe Harley, mastered entirely in analog by Kevin Gray from the original tapes, RTI pressing (180g), sturdy deluxe tip-on jacket, padded inner sleeve. |
