Tor Johan Boen started to work on this project while he was working on his doctoral dissertation on Eugne Ysaye. During his research he found several unknown and unpublished works for violin and piano by Eugne Ysaye. The works for violin and piano are presented on this recording.

Eugne Ysaye (18581931) was the most important violinist of his time, and a part of the violinist/composer tradition that started with Corelli. Ysaye first toured Norway in the spring of 1882. The tour visited the towns along the Norwegian coast from Trondheim to Fredrikstad. Ysaye played with the two Norwegian pianists Erika Lie Nissen and Karen Olstad. During his concert tour in Norway in 1882 Ysaye composed three works for violin and piano: Legende norvegienne, Mazurka de Concert Op. 1, and Grande Valse de Concert op. 3.
