Gripping orchestral works by a shy loner. Klami was mainly influenced by French Impressionism: Debussy, Ravel and the primitivism of Stravinsky. Many of his works show a sensitive feeling for rhythm, influences of popular music and the exuberant attitude to life of the “Roaring 20ths”. In addition to this, an intensive study of the folk music heritage of his Finnish homeland is added, and all this together results in a stylistically unique work. |
