Deutsche Grammophon is releasing live recordings of the 18th International Chopin Piano Competition by Bruce Liu, the winner of one of the most prestigious competitions in the world of classical music. The jury awarded the 24-year-old Canadian pianist first prize last night immediately after the final round at the National Philharmonic Hall in Warsaw. The live album is the prelude to a renewed collaboration between Deutsche Grammophon and the Chopin Institute, the competition’s host and organizer. The aim is to promote the work of outstanding Chopin performers and bring it to the widest possible audience. “We are delighted about this renewed cooperation with the Chopin Institute, which allows us to showcase an exceptional talent in classical music,” says Dr. Clemens Trautmann, President Deutsche Grammophon. “Every stage of this year’s competition was an experience. All the more remarkable is the success of Bruce Liu, whom we warmly congratulate. Chopin’s music is born of deep emotion, which is another reason why it appeals particularly to young musicians. We are honored to make such a young voice heard in the world.”
