The young violinist BOMSORI releases her solo debut album on Deutsche Grammophon: “Violin on Stage” Her love of Polish music, sparked in 2016 by her success at the Wieniawski International Violin Competition, had a major influence on the album, which presents a selection of stage pieces in arrangements for violin Bomsori, who already enjoys superstar status in her native Korea, draws on the virtuoso tradition of the old masters – famous violinists who arranged pieces for their instrument to develop their art and playfully test their limits. From the world of ballet, the album includes excerpts from stage works such as Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice and Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker. In addition to Wieniawski’s popular Légende and Polonaise de Concert, Bomsori has also recorded Fantaisie brillante on motifs from Gounod’s Faust. Other highlights of the operatic repertoire include the brand new arrangement of Mon cœur s’ouvre à ta voix from Saint-Saëns’ Samson et Dalila and the Introduction et Rondo Capriccioso. The album was recorded with the NFM Wrocław Philharmonic Orchestra and its principal conductor Giancarlo Guerrero. The album is released to coincide with Bomsori’s major tour in Korea and the festivals in Rheingau and Gstaad, where she is a focus artist with several concerts this summer.
