During his extraordinary career, which spanned more than six decades, the world-famous Italian composer Ennio Morricone created more than 600 original compositions and a unique and unmistakable style that combined avant-garde solutions with the finest pop-psych attitude.

Artists who sampled the maestro or were inspired by him in their productions include: Jay-Z, Flying Lotus, Danger Mouse, Madlib, Mark Knopfler, U2. On the occasion of the maestro’s 95th birthday (November 10, 2023), CAM Sugar presents a new collection of little-known gems composed by Morricone, which will complement the Morricone Segreto Collection in 2020: Morricone Segreto Songbook. Proof that even one of the most famous composers of our time still has secrets to reveal.

The Morricone Segreto Songbook reveals the pop-psychedelic, darkly cinematographic and avant-garde sounds that characterized the original collection, with some excursions into the folk-rock of the time, between poignant ballads and elegant chansons. This anthology was born out of a desire to explore Morricone’s film scores and discover some hidden gems that, despite the innovative level of the compositions and the modernity of the orchestration, have been more or less forgotten or relegated to the background.
