As a member of the Charles Mingus Band and with the George Adams / Don Pullen Quartet, Don Pullen distinguished himself in the 1970s and 1980s as a dynamic pianist and versatile musician who was equally influenced by avant-garde, blues, gospel, R&B and even funk. Pullen also proved his originality on the exciting trio album “New Beginnings”, with which he began his successful collaboration with Blue Note in 1988.
