On the album “Footprints Live!” released in 2002, which now appears for the first time as a double album on vinyl, Wayne Shorter, who died in March 2023, introduced his new quartet, with which he was to play together for more than 15 years and made headlines. The recordings were made in 2001 during acclaimed festival appearances in Spain, France and Italy. The repertoire is composed of some of the saxophonist’s best-known and most popular compositions (“Footprints,” “JuJu,” “Masqualero,” “Sanctuary,” “Atlantis,” “Go” and “Aung San Suu Kyi”) and includes only one foreign composition, Jean Sibelius’ “Valse Triste.” Verve By Request series: remastered, audiophile 180-gram vinyl from Third Man Pressing / Detroit, gatefold sleeve. |
