In 1979 / 80 Blue Note Japan surprised the jazz world with three albums by guitarist Kenny Burrell, which contained never-before-released recordings from the period between 1956 and 1964. Especially the very bluesy album “K. B. Blues” recorded in 1957 stood out, which many critics equated with Burrell’s masterpiece ‘Midnight Blue” made six years later. in 2023, this album, which was previously only available as an expensive Japanese import, was released worldwide for the first time.
