On October 15, 1965, master tenor saxophonist and composer Wayne Shorter recorded The All Seeing Eye, a brilliant and ambitious multi-layered album for Blue Note. Shorter’s goal for the album was to use “a wider palette of colors and textures” while continuing his explorations of “life, the universe, and God.”

Supporting Shorter in his quest are Freddie Hubbard on trumpet, Grachan Moncur III on trombone, James Spaulding on alto sax, Herbie Hancock on piano, Ron Carter on bass, Joe Chambers on drums and, on one track, Wayne’s brother Alan Shorter on flugelhorn.

The Tone Poet Audiophile Vinyl Reissue Series from Blue Note Records is produced by Joe Harley and features all-analog, 180g audiophile vinyl reissues mastered from the original master tapes in luxurious gatefold packaging. Mastering is handled by Kevin Gray (Cohearent Audio) and the vinyl is manufactured at Record Technology Incorporated (RTI).
