After the first CD “Il primo amore” with early works by Marianna Martines (1744-1812), which was praised by the press as an “interpretive delicacy” (Rondo), harpsichordist Nicholeta Paraschivescu with the ensemble La Floridiana and mezzo-soprano Anna Bonitatibus has now recorded three late cantatas, a harpsichord concerto and a sonata by this outstanding 18th century composer, including three world premiere recordings. Marianna Martines was a pupil of Haydn and was known in Vienna as an outstanding singer and harpsichordist who played piano four-hands with Mozart and even performed for Empress Maria Theresa. At the age of 29, Marianna Martines was given the honor of being the first woman ever to be admitted to the venerable Accademia Filarmonica di Bologna. A distinction reserved only for the best composers of her time. |
