Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Don Giovanni

The highlight of the 2013 Whitsun Festival in Baden-Baden was undoubtedly the celebrated new production of Mozart’s famous opera “Don Giovanni”, directed by Philipp Himmelmann and with an absolute dream cast: Anna Netrebko, in the role of Donna Anna, and Erwin Schrott, who is currently thrilling audiences on the world’s most important stages as the title hero

The other roles were also filled by top-class actors: Malena Ernman (Donna Elvira), Jonathan Lemalu (Masetto), Luca Pisaroni (Leporello). Under the direction of Thomas Hengelbrock, the Balthasar Neumann Choir & Ensemble created an immensely stringent, magnetizing interpretation of a Mozart classic that became one of those rare opera evenings where everything was just right.
