Antal Dorati & Matyas Seiber: Piano Concerto & Orchestral Works

The combination of works by Antal Doráti and Mátyás Seiber, as on this CD, makes sense for various reasons. Both belonged to the composition class of the famous Zoltán Kodály at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, and both were held in high esteem by the master.

Antal Doráti regarded himself as a “conducting composer”, Mátyás Seiber was a composer through and through and very open to different stylistic directions. In addition to “classical” works, he also wrote film music and turned to jazz.
