Wanda Landowska Plays Bach, Mozart, Handel, Scarlatti, Rameau

The historical recordings available here should be of interest not only to early music fans, but to the music world at large. The program ranges from Jacques Champion de Chambonnières to Henry Purcell, François Couperin, Domenico Scarlatti and George Frideric Handel (both the latter born in the same year as J. S. Bach) to Bach himself and the classical composers Joseph Haydn and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Bach’s works include the Goldberg Variations (recorded in Paris in 1933, as mentioned above) and the complete Well-Tempered Clavier, recorded in New York and Lakeville (between 1949 and 1954). Finally, on the 10th CD we also experience Wanda Landowska as a pianist on the pianoforte.
