The focus of this new release is the female figures in the works of Schubert, Rossini, and Verdi. + Franz Schubert left behind around 1100 works. Among those were texts set to music by authors like Aeschylus, Anacreon, Shakespeare, and more. + Rossini forbid public performances of his “Sins of Old Age.” These songs could only be heard in Rossini’s home in Paris, performed by the composer himself. + Performing these songs is Cornelia Lanz, accompanied by pianist Stefan Laux. |
