Eric Hoeprich, principal clarinettist of the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century, is one of the leading interpreters for playing on historical clarinets. He has released numerous highly acclaimed recordings with GLOSSA, including the reference recording of the quintets by Mozart and Brahms on original instruments with the London Haydn Quartet (jpc 6049199). With Weber’s sparkling virtuoso Clarinet Quintet op. 34, he now turns his attention to another public favourite of this instrumentation. Two particularly delightful rarities complete the programme, including Krommer’s Quintet op. 95, which captivates with its dark-toned instrumentation with violin, two violas and cello in the strings. |
