Peter Donohoe (Piano)
Recording all of Prokofiev’s piano sonatas with pianist Peter Donohoe is the fulfilment of a long-held dream for summer producer Siva Oke. And it is also an important brand in the career of the pianist, who first attracted attention in 1982 in Moscow when he won 2nd place in the Tchaikovsky Competition. That was the beginning of a great international career. Donohoe is a proven Prokofiev specialist; in 1985 he took over the editing and publication of the Urtext edition, which was published by Boosey & Hawkes. Over the years, he has played all of the sonatas in concert again and again, and believes that he has come as close as possible to the composer’s emotional world today.
