August Frederik Duranowski was born to a Polish mother and a French immigrant father. He was active not only as a composer but also as a violinist, and was so talented that he was recognized by Viotti at the age of 17, and was a great performer who even influenced Paganini. Felix Janiewicz was born in Lithuania, then part of the Polish Union, and was recognized for his violin talent from a young age and served as a violinist at the Royal Chapel of Poland. After that, he stayed in Vienna from 1785 to meet Haydn and Mozart and was influenced by them. He was then recognized and active in Paris, but moved to England and ended his life there. Chouchane Silanossian, who studied under Zakhar Bron at the Zurich University of Music from 2002, became the concertmaster of the St. Gallen Symphony Orchestra (Switzerland), and after meeting Reinhard Goebel, he became passionate about playing period instruments and became a member of Les Si?cles. He is active on the front lines, participating as a soloist in the tour. Lipinski: Symphonies Nos. 2 and 3 & Moniuszko: Bajka (Oh! Orchestra; Dirk Vermeulen) [NIFCCD143]: “They may be classed as ‘juvenilia’ [Lipinski Symphonies 1 & 2], but they have a Haydnesque drive and energy that is quite distinctive and exilharating in these performances by the {Oh!} Orchestra under Dirk Vermeulen. The period-instrument colours sound wonderful, not least the oboe solos in the Menuetto of the B flat symphony played with poise and freedom. [?] These performances are irresistible.” – BBC Music Magazine, 5 STARS |
