The Fryderyk Chopin Institute presents another opera by Stanisław Moniuszko recorded by Europa Galante and Fabio Biondi FLIS, the second – after Halka – work of the father of the Polish national opera with the international cast that has a chance for the international career.
After the success of Halka in the first recording on historical instruments and in the Italian language version, The Fryderyk Chopin Institute presents another opera by Stanisław Moniuszko, this time: FLIS – in the interpretation of Fabio Biondi and Europa Galante.
The recording was made as part of the programme of the 15th Chopin and his Europe International Music Festival in August 2019. The Warsaw premiere of the opera nude Flis (The Rafter) in 1858 was a great success for Stanisław Moniuszko, who thus once again confirmed his status as the Polish national composer. Although this charming, but by no means superficial work captivates with its abundance of sparkling melodies, it has led a rather shadowy existence on stage and on recordings, especially outside Poland. The successful recording on the label of the Fryderyk Chopin Institute in Warsaw with Fabio Biondi, his ensemble Europa Galante and a group of outstanding Polish singers is a convincing plea for the work, which will certainly win new friends in Poland.
