Andrzej Dobber (baritone) is a graduate of the Music Academy in Kraków and a prizewinner of several major competitions, including those in Gütersloch (Neue Europäische Stimmen), Vienna (Belvedere), and Munich (the Grand Prix at the ARD Competition). He has performed at the most prestigious venues in Berlin (Deutsche Oper, Komische Oper, Staatsoper), Dresden, Essen, Frankfurt, Hanover, Hamburg, Karlsruhe, Cologne, Leipzig, Munich, Nuremberg, Vienna, Amsterdam, Brussels, Edinburgh, Glasgow, London (Covent Garden, Royal Albert Hall), Malaga, Florence, Milan (La Scala), Montpellier, Paris (Opera Bastille), Toulouse, Petersburg, New York (Metropolitan Opera, Avery Fischer Hall), Cincinnati, Vancouver, Tel Aviv, Hong Kong, and Tokyo, under conductors such as Christian Thielemann, Colin Davis, Roger Norrington, Arnold Oestmann, Riccardo Chailly, Gary Bertini, Edo de Waart, Pinchas Steinberg, Giuseppe Sinopoli, Simone Yang, Helmuth Rilling, Kazushi Ono, Stefan Soltesz, Vladimir Fiedosieyev, Vladimir Jurowski, Sylvain Cambrelling, Yakov Kreizberg, Roberto Abbado, Richard Armstrong, Riccardo Muti, Carlo Rizzi, Zubin Mehta, and Valery Gergiev. He has also participated in many festivals including the Glyndebourne Opera Festival (Macbeth). He has sung in Verdi’s Simone Boccanegra, Rigoletto and La Traviata and in Bizet’s Carmen at the National Opera in Warsaw. Highlights in his career have included a debut at the La Scala in Rigoletto and Il Trovatore (with Riccardo Muti conducting) and numerous performances at the festival Maggio Musicale Fiorentino with Zubin Mehta (Il Trovatore, Attilla, Tosca). |
