Galina Ustvolskaya (1919-2006) is considered one of the most important Russian composers of the 20th century. Unlike many of her colleagues, she succeeded in making herself heard in the West as early as the 1990s. All the other composers represented on this CD have not progressed beyond the status of highly interesting discoveries.
