Bohuslav Martinu is one of the most important Czech composers. His oeuvre, especially the orchestral works and chamber music, has recently experienced a well-deserved renaissance. In the neo-classical works of the 1930s, Martinů likes to take up the form of the baroque ‘concerto grosso’. The Storioni Trio here present two delightful concertante works by the composer in which the soloist group is formed (quite unbaroque) by a piano trio. In the Partita for string orchestra, also presented here, the Georgian Chamber Orchestra Ingolstadt shines under the direction of Ruben Gazarian. |
