The resounding legacy of a great conductor On 8 November 2019, a few weeks before his unexpected death, Mariss Jansons conducted his last concert during a tour with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra at Carnegie Hall, New York (USA). The programme included the four symphonic interludes from Richard Strauss’ opera “Intermezzo” as well as Johannes Brahms’ Fourth Symphony; as an encore, the famous Hungarian Dance No. 5 was performed. The live recording made at Carnegie Hall, here released for the first time on CD by BR-KLASSIK, is the great conductor’s resounding legacy. |
