This first CD in a planned series of historical recordings by Gewandhausorchester Leipzig contains recordings from 1940, 1944, and 1945. The disc includes d Albert s cello concerto and Humperdinck s Moorian Rhapsody, which is rarely heard today. It also contains the only known recording of the Walcker organ in the Second Gewandhaus, destroyed in an air raid in 1944. |
