Vienna State Opera Chorus
Indeed, the Vienna State Opera is one of the most important opera houses of the world. But curiously, not many masterpieces of the international opera repertoire were premiered here. One exception is undoubtedly “Die Frau ohne Schatten” by Richard Strauss, which is one of the undisputed masterpieces of today’s “standard repertoire”.
The play was premiered in 1919. 100 years later some of the best singers of the Strauss subject gathered on the stage of the Vienna State Opera to commemorate the premiere and to show that “Die Frau ohne Schatten” is still alive today. Camilla Nylund, Nina Stemme, Wolfgang Koch, Stephen Gould, Evelyn Herlitzius and many more together form a vocal cast that inspires Strauss disciples! And as if that were not enough, conductor and Strauss expert Christian Thielemann also guarantees a first-class orchestral backdrop.
