Karl Amadeus Hartmann: Sinfonia Tragica & Concerto for viola, piano & orchestra

Karl Amadeus Hartmann is still one of the most enigmatic German composers of his generation. If he had composed only for the drawer at the time of National Socialism, the postwar period did not initially bring the hoped-for breakthrough, and Hartmann continues to revise numerous scores. Thus both works on the present CD, the Sinfonia tragica and the Concerto for Viola and Piano, are premiere recordings with which Marek Janowski once again demonstrates his enthusiasm for music of the 20th century.
