Vision String Quartet (String Quartet)

The young ensemble vision string quartet from Germany has everything you need to interpret the great classics. No wonder. Jakob Encke, Daniel Stoll, Leonard Disselhorst and Sander Stuart learned their craft from greats like Günter Pichler of the Alban Berg Quartet and the Artemis Quartet. On their Warner debut album “memento” they penetrate the musical worlds of death with great expressive power

Resignation, despair, horror – but also rebellion and anger. Psychologists distinguish these emotions as phases of grief work, as stages in the confrontation with the horror of death. Two chamber music works bring these emotions to life – Schubert’s Quartet in D minor, composed in 1824 and nicknamed “Death and the Maiden”, and Mendelssohn’s F minor Quartet of 1847, his last contribution to the genre. Schubert was inspired by his own song in his most important quartet: Death and the Maiden, a symbol of transience, even in his most beautiful early youth. Mendelssohn’s work arose from the experience of a personal drama and is therefore one of the few pieces by the early Romantic composer with a clear confessional character: in 1847 Mendelssohn’s sister Fanny, also a highly talented musician, died suddenly. Mendelssohn fell into deep depression and wrote his last quartet as funeral music – unaware that he would not have much time left either.
