028948661213,

In the 1970s, Friedrich Gulda, Claudio Abbado and the Vienna Philharmonic released four piano concertos by Mozart on Deutsche Grammophon – all of which enjoy cult status today. After the concertos nos. 25 & 27 had already been released as part of The Original Source Series and met with an overwhelming overwhelming response, Concertos Nos. 20 & 21 now follow, reissued on 2 LPs to improve the audio quality. To mark its 125th anniversary, Deutsche Grammophon has launched the reissue of legendary recordings in the highest sound quality: The audiophile vinyl series The Original Source presents outstanding recordings from the 1970s in a completely new sound quality. For this, the renowned Emil Berliner Studios have remastered and edited the original four-track tapes in 100% analog quality (AAA) using technologies specially developed for the production of the series. The sonic differences to the original releases are considerable: greater clarity, more subtleties and improvements in the frequency response in the frequency response and less background noise, distortion and compression make for an audiophile listening experience like never before. The copies of this series will be released on 180g vinyl records and in a deluxe gatefold edition with original covers and lyrics, limited and numbered, accompanied by additional photos and facsimiles of the recording logs and tape boxes, as well as an article explaining the exact technical background.

Reviews

“This 1973 recording of K. 595 is utterly extraordinary – a performance that has pure poetry in places (after the cadenza in the first movement, for example) that remains unparalleled to this day. Nor is there any sign of a decline in energy. This recording is for the desert island.” (International Record Review)
