Carl Orff’s most famous work is, without a doubt, the famous “Carmina Burana” in which he set to music Middle High German and Latin texts from the Benediktbeuern monastery. The work, completed in 1937, quickly became one of the most important choral works of our time. It is included in this 125th anniversary edition in a reference recording conducted by Eugen Jochum, the orchestra of the Deutsche Oper Berlin and great soloists such as Gundula Janowitz and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. Included as a bonus is a very early 1944 recording by Ferenc Fricsay, the RIAS Chamber Choir and the RIAS Symphony Orchestra Berlin

But also the other works such as “Die Bernauerin”, “Antigonae”, “Die Kluge”, among others, have been recorded by top-class conductors (Herbert von Karajan, Rafael Kubelik, Ferdinand Leitner), orchestras (Cologne Radio Symphony Orchestra, Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra of the Saxon State Opera Dresden) and soloists (Peter Schreier, Christa Ludwig, Gottlob Frick, Inge Borkh, Ernst Haefliger).
