“Brilliantly orchestrated throughout and also melodically extremely catchy – some pieces have a real catchy tune character” (FONO FORUM), “wild dances, sparkling rhythms, brilliant choirs and soulful poetic moments” (AUDIO), were the reviews of Kristjan Järvi’s previous Tchaikovsky releases (Snowflakes and Swan Lake). For this album, Järvi has taken the highlights of Tchaikovsky’s famous ballet music “Sleeping Beauty” and arranged them into a kind of symphony. He recorded this version with his orchestra Baltic Sea Philharmonic. Tchaikovsky’s score for Sleeping Beauty lasts almost three hours. Järvi has condensed the ballet into a version of about 70 minutes. Iconic scenes, fairytale characters and beloved dances are distilled into a captivating new version of this magical Russian masterpiece.
