The first release of a legendary Blue Note live recording that fans have been waiting for for decades!

In July 1973, Blue Note Records traveled to Montreux to present some of the label’s stars at the legendary Montreux Jazz Festival. Produced by then Blue Note president George Butler, a series of live albums followed under the title “Live: Cookin’ with Blue Note at Montreux,” featuring vibraphonist Bobby Hutcherson, organist Ronnie Foster, flutist Bobbi Humphrey and vocalist Marlena Shaw. Why the great recording of trumpeter Donald Byrd remained unreleased in the archives until now, no one can explain today.

Now, on Donald Byrd’s 90th birthday, Blue Note fills that catalog gap with the release of an energetic, rousing concert by the artist.
