This opera has a special place, not only in Prokofiev’s career, but also in the history of Russian Soviet music theatre, as it is the first lyrico-comical opera. The work is set in Seville in the 18th century. This recording was made in 1963 and in 1967 was awarded an André Messager Prize of the Academy of Lyric Recordings in France. |
