Noctuelles With Le poète du piano, a discography of 30 years of recordings, French pianist Alexandre Tharaud paints a self-portrait of very different and sometimes surprisingly contrasting colours. In doing so, the compilation follows the personal and artistic development of the exceptional French talent: “It is,” Tharaud explains, “as if I had played through my life through my recordings, each of which represents a significant, if not a seminal, stage in my career as an artist.” While just over half of the album is drawn from Alexandre Tharaud’s previously released discography, the remainder consists of previously unreleased music: some recordings did not make it onto the album for which they were originally intended, while others were created spontaneously during studio sessions over the years. The album also contains Tharaud’s own works and arrangements, which now appear as a recording for the first time. |
