“Violin playing is now more fun than 10 years ago and much more fun than 20 years ago. It gives me more and more joy.” (Guy Braunstein) Braunstein plays on a rare violin built in 1679 by Francesco Ruggieri. As the youngest violinist of all time, Guy Braunstein was appointed first concertmaster of the Berliner Philharmoniker in 2000, with whom he had already performed as one of the soloists in Beethoven’s Triple Concerto under the baton of Zubin Mehta in the 1990s. Braunstein is currently available to the Philharmonic for about four months a year. From the 2013 / 14 season he will no longer work as concertmaster in order to devote himself fully to his international solo career, his increasing engagements as a conductor and his diverse chamber music activities. |
